Clear has launched in Metro Atlanta, and I thought I would try it out this week. I live in Roswell, GA, an area shown in the "green" on the coverage map. Thought I would try a month and see if I could "cut the cord" from Charter, since the cable went out during the first quarter of the LSU v GA game last weekend. Got the box today, easy setup, plug it in and it seeks a signal... only the signal is a little wimpy:
Here is the speedtest.net result from my home near Coleman Road and Post Oak Tritt. As good as dial-up, but not as good as the cable I'm trying to ditch. I think this will be an interesting alternative once the towers are built out. Looks like I'll have to wait, since I can already imagine the "tech support" calls from the household users during my workday.
Note: The best signal I got on the Motorola modem was 2 out of 5 possible LEDs. I went to every window in the house, and even into the attic. Sure wish there was an external mast on this box. Wireless everything would be great, but it needs tuning.
